Dear Families, I hope this update finds you all in the best of health. We’ve had a wintery, action packed week here at the Academy with a number of students out on trips across the country as well as visitors to school delivering sessions on a range of topics designed to developed our students understanding of themselves and the world around them. I have some detail about these below alongside some wider updates about this week and the term ahead.
21st January 2023
Dear Families, I hope this update finds you and those closest to you in the very best of health. Following what has felt like a long break away, it has been great to bring our community back together this week and start the year as we mean to go on. You will be aware that we had a staff training day on Monday with a focus on developing reading in our young people – there will be further updates on this later in the year where you may be able to support your child and others with some of our initiatives.
13th January 2023
Dear Families, I hope this update finds you and those closest to you in good health. You will be aware that our academy is in mourning and that our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of Laila. As such it has been anything but normal this week as our whole community has attempted to come to terms with our loss. I thank you for the messages and offers of support. We have done what we can to help our students navigate this with both group and individual counselling sessions and will continue to support with additional services through into the new term. I have some updates from both this week and last below.
16th December 2022
Dear Families, I hope this update finds you and those closest to you in the very best of health. Winter is definitely upon us and we’ve had some cold but sunny wintery days this week. With that comes a reminder that students need a warm coat for break and lunchtime as well as the journey to and from school. I have a slightly shorter update for you following a slightly shorter school week this week.
2nd December 2022
Dear Families, I hope this update finds you in the best of health. Another action packed week has flown by here at the Academy with a host of visitors again coming to work with our young people and sample what it is that makes our school so unique and positive. Next week is a slightly shorter week but there are a number of events that I will update you about below.
25th November 2022
Dear Families, I hope this update finds you all in the best of health. We have had a typically busy week at the academy this week with a number of celebratory highlights. There was a lot of attention and debate around the cricket world cup at the start of the week with students attention now turning towards the football world cup which starts this weekend. We have had a number of visitors to the school and have seen the return of our rewards assemblies and lunches for the first time since the pandemic. I have more detail for you below.
19th November 2022
Dear Families, I hope this week’s update finds you and those closest to you in good health. Today we observed a 2 minutes silence as part of our remembrance day activities. Whilst this always feels a very solemn activity it gives time for our community to pause, reflect and acknowledge those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our way of life and our freedom. Students have been taking part in assemblies over the last fortnight to help them understand the meaning behind Remembrance Day whilst our Art and Design teams have helped students create art installations inspired by the poppy across the school.
