Start of Term Arrangements

Dear Parent/Carer

Please find below the key information sent out before the summer to clarify arrangements for the start of term:

C19 Testing and Consent

In line with the most recent Government Guidance, we will be offering on site Covid 19 tests to all students the day before their scheduled start of term and a second 3-5 days later. After this we will resume sending test kits home with students to conduct at home. In order to allow your child to participate in testing, you will have to give consent using the form on the link below:

If you would like a paper copy of the consent form they can be collected from reception or your student’s year manager/progress leader.

To enable us to complete on site testing before students return, there will be a staggered start to the term. Students should come into school on the day before their first day of term for a lateral flow test and then go home. They will be given a card to register online and receive notification of their results.

The staggered start to the year is detailed in the table below. Students will be guided on their first day of school to the correct assembly point and entrance to school.

 Timings of the school day

We will return to our normal (pre-covid) school day timings this term with all year groups starting school at 8.40. Their window for arrival is between 8.30 and 8.40, there will be no access to the school site before this time so it is important students do not arrive too early, particularly in inclement weather.

We will have slightly different arrangement for the first week of school. School will start at 8.40 am each day and will end at 3.05 pm each day. However, for Year 7 only, school will end at 2.50pm for the first 2 weeks. We have a number of specific adjustments to our school day for them that will help to ease them in to the routines at Derby Moor gradually. When we begin the second week, school will end at 3.05pm, with the exception of Wednesday when school ends at 2.45pm for all students in Years 8-13.

Uniform guidance can be found on our website here. There are no changes to uniform from this year and students will be required to continue wearing the same colour lanyard they were issued with last year. Year 7 and new students will be issued with a lanyard on their first day back.

Welcome letters for each year group can be found here

We look forward to seeing our students arrive back with us in September.
